Jamie & Danette's Wedding Day | Lakeside, Kentucky

April 21, I had the opportunity to shoot a beautiful wedding with Sara Horne. I am always thrilled when Sara asks if I can shoot with her, and without hesitation, I told her I would love to! She's always so much fun to work with! Check out her Facebook page by clicking here.

This wedding was my first one of the year which made me even more excited! We traveled to Lakeside, Kentucky to Immanuel United Methodist Church for Jamie and Danette's wedding. These images don't even begin to explain how beautiful everything was...from the decorations to the ceremony and for the love for each other that was glowing from Jamie and Danette (which made it hard to choose which photos to post)!  I'm so glad I had the opportunity to shoot with Sara and get to know Jamie and Danette and be apart of their special day!

After seeing the decorations Danette and her mom made, it made me wish I could've had them help me with my wedding! They were stunning!

Jamie and Danette decided to do a first look, which I always LOVE! It was so beautiful! I especially loved how their family and friends overlooked the whole thing from the balcony.

Josh, Elisha, Mackenzie and Taylor | family session

Easter weekend,  I had the opportunity to photograph the Surber family! I have gotten to know Elisha through my workplace and was excited when we decided on a date for the session. We had beautiful weather that afternoon! Thanks to her grandparents for allowing us to use their property for the shoot! Here are some of my favorites!

Down on the Farm

A couple weekends ago, my husband and I went out to his parents house to visit. I ended up taking my new camera along so I could put it to the test! Last May, this handsome little guy, Oscar as we like to call him, showed up and has been hanging around since. Early November, they ended up getting a cow (we named her Sophie). When my father - in - law brought her home, she was only a few days old and didn't know how to drink out of a bottle, so we got to show her how. It has been so much fun seeing her grow up! She's definitely a big baby! She gets really excited when someone comes home and even runs around in the field (mooing too of course). These are some of my favorite images I took that evening!

Fall 2011 | Family Session

A few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to photograph my best friend Jessica and her cousins back in Eaton, Ohio at Fort St. Claire.  It was such a fun session, the weather was perfect and the colors were beautiful! Couldn't have asked for a better day for shooting! Thanks for making this session so much fun Jessica, Christy, Andrew, Natalie and Allison! :) Here's just a few of my favorites...

Welcome to Sarah Kappes Photography!

Welcome to the Sarah Kappes Photography blog! I'm Sarah Kappes, a portrait and wedding photographer in the greater Lafayette, Indiana area. I work and reside here in Lafayette, but also travel to Ohio quite frequently (as I grew up in Northeast Ohio). I am a 2010 graduate from The Ohio Institute of Photography & Technology where I majored in portrait and commercial photography.  

This photography blog will be the best place for you to view images from my most recent sessions. It's also where I might post some day-to-day happenings in the Kappes household!
